The Seasonal Living Programme
Discover the Wisdom of the Seasons
The Seasonal Living Programme invites you to explore the art of living in rhythm with nature,
guided by the practical wisdom of Chinese medicine.
Through gentle movement, self-reflection, and everyday self-care, you’ll begin to understand how each season influences your energy, emotions, and overall wellbeing — and how to respond in ways that feel supportive rather than demanding.
This year-long seasonal journey blends ancient insight with simple, accessible practices you can weave into daily life. Instead of pushing against change, you’ll learn when to rest, when to move, and how to care for yourself in alignment with the natural rhythms around you.
It’s not about doing more — it’s about listening more closely, living with intention, and feeling steadier and more connected as the seasons unfold.
About The Course
The Seasonal Living Programme is a year-long exploration of how to live in rhythm with nature’s cycles, guided by the wisdom of Chinese medicine.
Each season invites a different quality of energy, emotion, and focus. Through the Five Elements system, you’ll explore how these seasonal shifts influence your body, mind, and overall wellbeing — and how to respond with greater awareness and care.
Across six live online sessions and optional in-person retreat days, you’ll learn how to apply seasonal wisdom to everyday life. We’ll explore simple, practical ways to nourish your energy, prevent imbalance, and support yourself through times of change.
Rooted in the Taoist principle of Yang Sheng — the art of nourishing life — this programme offers gentle, embodied practices to help you feel grounded, resilient, and supported throughout the year.

A Year in Rhythm with Nature
The Seasonal Living Programme follows the natural flow of the year, moving through the seasons as they unfold.
Each phase offers a different quality of energy, focus, and reflection — inviting you to respond to change with more awareness, care, and ease.
Rather than pushing against the rhythms of nature, you’ll learn how to move with them, supporting your body, emotions, and wellbeing in a way that feels sustainable and nourishing.
Across the year, you’ll explore:
Foundations - The Wisdom of the Seasons - Saturday 7 March 2026
Begin your journey by exploring the roots of Chinese Medicine — Yin and Yang, the Five Elements, and the Chinese Body Clock. Discover how seasonal energy moves through the year and how to recognise it in your own body, emotions, and daily rhythms.
You’ll learn how to observe the cycles of change, reconnect with nature’s flow, and begin building your personal seasonal self-care toolkit.
Focus:
Understanding Qi, Yin–Yang balance, the Five Elements, and how to live in rhythm with the seasons.
Saturday 7 March 2026
Summer – Fire Element: Expansion & Joy Saturday 2 May 2026
Summer invites warmth, openness, and connection. It’s a time to live from the heart — to express yourself, communicate freely, and share joy. You’ll explore how to nourish the Heart, Small Intestine, Pericardium, and Triple Heater systems, balancing outward energy with inner calm.
We’ll use movement and breath to expand the chest, calm the mind, and bring balance to the fire within.
Practices include:
Heart-opening Qi Gong, meridian stretching for the Fire channels, cooling foods and teas, acupressure for calm and sleep, and essential oils to soothe anxiety and uplift the spirit.
Saturday 2 May 2026 10am-12pm
Late Summer – Earth Element: Nourishment & Stability Saturday 18 July 2026
The Earth element teaches us to centre, digest, and nourish ourselves — physically and emotionally. As the season of abundance, it invites reflection and gratitude. You’ll focus on the Spleen and Stomach meridians, exploring how to transform worry into grounded presence.
Practices include:
Qi Gong for digestion and grounding, abdominal self-massage, foods that strengthen the Earth element, acupressure for balance and calm, and essential oils for comfort and emotional steadiness.
Saturday 18 July 2026 10am-12pm
Metal Element: Letting Go & Renewal Saturday 29 August 2026
Autumn is the season of refinement and release. The Lungs and Large Intestine teach us to let go of what we no longer need and to breathe in what truly sustains us. Through mindful movement and reflection, you’ll learn to find beauty in simplicity and strength in stillness.
Practices include:
Breath-led Qi Gong, meridian stretching for the chest and arms, acupressure for grief and immunity, autumn food therapy for resilience, and essential oils to support clear breathing and emotional lightness.
Saturday 29 August 2026 10am-12pm
Winter – Water Element: Rest & Restoration Saturday 24 October 2026
Winter draws us inward — the most Yin time of year. It’s the season of rest, reflection, and renewal. You’ll explore the Kidney and Bladder meridians, learning how to preserve your energy and cultivate wisdom through stillness.
Practices include:
Slow Qi Gong and Dao Yin, acupressure for fear and fatigue, restorative foods and warming teas, essential oils for courage and calm, and journaling to connect with your inner stillness.
Saturday 24 October 2026 10am-12pm
Spring – Wood Element: Growth & Flow Saturday 15th January 2027
Spring marks the return of light and movement — a time for growth, vision, and new beginnings. The Wood element teaches us to stay flexible while moving forward with purpose, to channel creative energy into clear direction, and to meet life’s changes with ease.
You’ll explore the Liver and Gallbladder meridians, learning how to release tension, restore flexibility, and cultivate emotional flow. This session helps you transform frustration into focus and step confidently into the next phase of your year.
Practices include:
Qi Gong to awaken and stretch the body after winter’s stillness, meridian stretching for the sides and hips, acupressure with essential oils to support flow and clarity, and guidance on seasonal foods to nourish the Liver and renew vitality. Journaling and reflection will help you clarify your vision and nurture growth — inside and out.
Saturday 6 March 2027
Optional In-Person Retreat Days
Each season, you’re invited to deepen your experience through an optional in-person retreat day.
These gatherings bring the teachings to life — offering space to move, rest, eat well, and reconnect with nature and yourself.
Together, we explore the element of the season through Qi Gong, meridian stretching, meditation, acupressure rituals, seasonal food, and reflection.
It’s a chance to step out of daily life and embody what you’ve been learning online — to feel the seasonal wisdom in your body, not just understand it.
Held in beautiful Sussex and selected nature-based venues, these retreats are optional, yet deeply nourishing.
They offer a gentle way to reconnect with the rhythm of the seasons — in body, mind, and spirit.

Testimonials
Jo is a great teacher, extremely talented and so much fun. She held the space for us all to be safe and open and flawlessly had the balance to be on the same level as everyone else.
Her healing talents are in her listening, understanding and communication as much as in her teaching and treatment sessions

Molino Del Rey 2023
Retreating with Jo was life-changing for me. And the impact is still strong. The changes that I’ve made to certain aspects of my life feel permanent as there’s been some kind of fundamental shift in me It feels much easier now, as that’s just who I am now!
Sasha
I had never been on a retreat before so I didn’t really know what to expect - it was the most incredible experience! It was a week to step away from daily life into a bubble of self care and laughter with a wonderfully supportive group of ladies. Jo’s knowledge, empathy and skill in leading the retreat gave us the perfect balance of learning, guided practice and also time for ourselves. Molino del Ray is a beautiful centre lovingly and sympathetically created in the stunning Andalusian mountains, the food was perfect, freshly homemade and nourishing and the massages were a real treat! Thank you Jo.
