What to expect

These events are no longer running. Please visit here for : upcoming retreats.

Each Wellness Morning is a gentle, nourishing blend of movement, stillness, and seasonal care — designed to support your nervous system and help you feel more balanced in your body and mind.

You’ll be guided through:

Qi Gong
Slow, flowing movements to restore energy, improve circulation, and help your body feel more open and at ease.

Meridian Stretching (Yin-style movement)
Longer-held, gentle stretches to release tension, support your organs, and encourage deep relaxation.

Guided Meditation
Time to settle your mind, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with yourself.

Seasonal Chinese Medicine Tea
A warming, nourishing tea chosen to support the season and your overall wellbeing.

This is not about pushing your body or “doing it right.”

It’s about slowing down, listening in, and leaving feeling:

  • Calming
  • More grounded
  • Less tense
  • More energised
  • Supported and held

No experience with Qi Gong, meditation, or acupuncture is needed.

Optional Group Acupuncture

A small number of places are available to stay on after the Wellness Morning for a group acupuncture session at the Truleigh Centre.

Group acupuncture is a restful treatment where a small group receives simple, seasonal acupuncture in a quiet space. You’ll lie on a yoga mat while needles are placed at points on the arms, legs, ears or head.

It can support stress regulation, sleep, energy, hormonal balance and seasonal wellbeing.

Because this is group acupuncture, treatments focus on general wellbeing rather than specific health conditions. If you are seeking treatment for a particular issue, a private session would be more appropriate.

Spaces are limited to 10 people. No previous experience is needed.

About Your Guide

These Wellness Mornings are led by Jo Darling, acupuncturist, retreat guide, and founder of The Tao of Self-Care.

Jo’s work blends Chinese medicine, seasonal wisdom, gentle movement, and nervous system support to create calm, nourishing spaces where people can slow down, restore balance, and feel deeply supported.

Her approach is practical, grounded, and rooted in decades of clinical experience — always guided by the rhythms of nature and the needs of the people she works with.
